Traction motors or drives are a crucial component in the design of any drive system. They convert the energy provided by the battery pack to rotational energy which is then multiplied by the transmission, or in some cases used to directly drive axles. FVT is committed to using only the highest quality and class leading motors, giving design preference to internal permanent magnet (IPM) technology as opposed to surface permanent magnet (SPM) or induction motors due to their higher efficiency, control and performance characteristics.
Auxiliary motors provide rotational power to components which require operation or potential operation when the primary traction drive is idle, such as hydraulic or pneumatic pumps. FVT uses various auxiliary drive motors based on the performance requirements of the system.
